Shimla: With Mayor Madhu Sood backtracking on the issues about construction of a road to the contentious upcoming residential colony in a forest area, congress has decided to issue a show cause notice seeking an explanation.
State congress president Kaul Singh Thakur said the opposition had strongly opposed the violations being made under the garb of Apartments Act in the budget session with specific reference to construction coming up in the middle of a thick forest within the city.
When pointed out that the mayor had retraced her opposition to the project and in a written statement said that the misunderstanding with municipal commissioner AN Sharma stands resolved, Kaul Singh said the party would issue a show cause notice to the mayor asking her to clarify her position.
Earlier, the mayor on Monday in her statement said that the builder company had assured that the path to a neighbouring village passing through the property would be restored.
Separately, Kawar Deep Singh of Bamloe Contructions, who are constructing the high end Samatara villas that has caused shard divisions between the ruling and opposition parties, in a written statement said that no illegality had been committed in the constructions being undertaken and all necessary permissions had been obtained from competent authorities over a 20 month period.
