In a separate raid, a special investigation unit from Shimla out on a patrol, on Monday recovered 1.5 Kgs of charas from one Sewa Ram at Nogli on the Shimla-Rampur highway. Both Sanjay Verma and Sewa Ram, a resident of Tharla village in Nirmand tehsil of Kullu have been arrested.

Police and anti-narcotic agencies, over the years have been trying hard to contain the illegal trade in opium and charas. Police authorities say that Himachal has the dubious record of being counted as the largest producer of illegal charas in the country, accounting for as much as 25 percent of the contraband trade.
