Shimla: Chairman of Public Undertaking Committee(PUC) of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Harinaryan Sani expressed concern at the mounting losses of Himachal Processing and Marketing Corporation (HPMC) for it had accumulated an debt of Rs 43.34 crore till the year 2008-09.
Saini laid the 52nd Report in state assembly on Friday.
The report highlighted the precarious finical positions of the public sector undertaking and painted a grim picture about its future.
However, the report does mention that purchase of machinery at high prices was one of the major reasons for the financial condition of HPMC, despite effective steps taken by the government to contain losses.
The committee has observed that loss was increasing with each passing years and needed to be curbed.
Not withstanding the constraints, the reports asks for running HPMC’S Parwanoo and Jarol fruit processing plants around the year for effective utilization of existing manpower.
