Shimla: To ensure availability of teachers in schools, the government has brought out and transfer policy for teachers which provides for a posting tenure of 3 academic years, with the first posting preferably being in tribal and hard areas of the state.
Giving details about the new policy, a government spokesman said the normal stay in case of first appointments in tribal, difficult, hard and rural areas would be five years.
The policy envisages that employees who have managed to remain posted in urban areas, are posted to rural, remote, tribal or difficult areas during the transfer season.
For purpose of transfer, continuous service within a radius of 25 Kms in urban areas and 15 Kms in rural areas would be clubbed for counting the posting period for purpose of transfers.
Whereas general transfers would be ordered in April and there would be a ban on from the last day of April. During rest of the year teachers would only be transferred with prior approval of the chief minister.
