Shimla: Burglars made a heist by striking at two places in Shimla by walking away with about Rs 6 lakhs worth of gold ornaments and Rs 1.25 lakhs in cash.
Rajinder Thakur, a resident of New Totu, left house on Sunday for a day with the family to Tara Devi temple on Sunday (9.1.2011) morning at 8.30 but when he got back home at 4.30 in the evening, the house was broken into and gold ornaments and other valuables were found to be stolen.
In another incident, Ram Singh Rana, a resident of Jakhoo locality, on returning to today after having been out since 1 January, found his house burgled and cash and gold ornaments stolen.
A police spokesman said that a case on the statement Rana had been registered in which he had claimed that ornaments worth over Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh case was had been stolen.
The police has registered cases in both the burglary incidents and investigations are on, said the spokesman.
