Shimla: Himachal police arrested two-suspected Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist from Kotla area in Nurpur sub-division of Kangra district in the wee hours of the morning, ADGP(CID) I.D.Bhandari said.
The two Kashmiri terrorists , hailing from Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir were hiding in the garb of labourers when intercepted by the police.
The terrorists Jameel Ahmed(35), son of Mohammad Ibrahim from Doda and Gulam Nabi (20) ,son of Balyal from Marmat village in Goa Banoli (Doda) had come to Himachal in the month of November and planned to stay there till end of April.
The police traced the suspected terrorists following a tip off and intercepted the duo and recovered a Chinese pistol from them, Bhandari said. Jameed was suspected to be district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen of Doda district while Gulam Nabi was his associate.
Both of them tried to conceal their identities and tried to mislead the police by giving wrong names and addresses but J and K police nailed their lies and established their true identity.
The arrested terrorists were being interrogated by a joint team of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir police and details of the investigations made so far had not been disclosed. A case has been registered against them, under sections 419,122,123,34 of IPC and 25 arms act
The arrest of Kashmiri terrorists has alerted the police and security was being beefed up to keep watch on suspected elements ,police sources said.
Daljit Thakur, SP Kangra said that during the Naka checking last night 2 persons of J&k were cought near Kotla on the Pathankot Mandi National highway( 90 kms from here) by the police.
He said that both of them may have links with the groups of anti national elements. In this arrest the J&K police assisted the Himachal Police said SP. He added that a small weapon was recovered from one of them named JAMIL AHMAD,.
One fictitious identity card of the election commission of India was also recovered from him . they were over powered by the police when they tried to escape said Thakur.
He said that both of them tried to conceal their identities and on questioning gave wrong addresses & names . but with the help of J&K police they disclosed their real names and addresses.
Thakur said that the name of the other person nabbed by the police could not be disclosed due to security reasons.
While investigations were on a case has been registered under sections 419,122,123,34 of IPC and 25 arms act, he said.
