Shimla: Into luxury transport and hotels, the public sector Himachal Tourism Development Corporation has reported a net profit of Rs 7.73 crore for the June quarter.
A spokesman for the corporation said that the gross profit upto June recorded was Rs 8.38 crore. In 2009-10 HPTDC had an overall net profit of Rs 4.79 crore, he added.
Apart from the 59 hotels and restaurants that the chain operation it also runs 19 luxury buses which include 4 super deluxe Volvo buses.
Booking and occupancy rates have gone up since the corporation started online bookings about two years ago, turning around the losses and to report operating yearly profits.
However, overall the corporation remains in the red and has an accumulated debt of about Rs 24 crores on its books.
