Himachal To Woo Commonwealth Games Tourists With Special Package

Shimla: To attract visitors during the hosting of Commonwealth Games, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) plans to announce a special package.

Presiding over a board meeting late on Monday, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that HPTDC would be soon announcing a special package for attracting visitors from all over the world during the ensuing Commonwealth Games.

The corporation’s board also approved a free week long stay to World Record holders during the Commonwealth Games.

To cater to the increasing number of tourists visiting Kasauli, the board also approved construction of a 40 double bed room hotel at the popular hill station.

HPTDC already operates a chain of 57 hotels across the state, for the first time has even obtained ISO 9001 certification for two of its properties, which includes its flagship Hotel Holiday Home.

Chief executive officer of Corporation Certification, Ravi Gaekwad presented the Certifications of Registration –Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 2008 awarded by UK based BSI Management Systems to chief minister Dhumal.

The two units have been included in the elite group of global ISO certified hotels are Hotel Holiday Home and Goofa-Ashiana, a HPTDC spokesman said.

The public sector corporation has a total of 1051 rooms that can accommodate 2,256 guests. It also operates 60 restaurants which serve multi cuisines.
