Shimla: Towards improving the road infrastructure, ministry of road and transport has sanctioned Rs 145.72 crore for construction of an 89 Km carriageway on two national highways, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal disclosed today.
He said of the funds allocated Rs 55.15 crore would be used to for the Rani Taal – Kangra Railway Over Bridge section and Kangra Bye Pass – Matour section on National Highway 88 that is to be widened as well as strengthened from single lane carriageway with geometric improvement to double lane carriageway.
Another Rs 70.96 crore would be spent on the Nadaun Bridge to Rani Taal portion on same highway for widening into a double lane carriageway and an amount of Rs 19.61 crore would be used to improve the Dhamla-Poanta Sahib Bridge on Yamuna River on National Highway 72, said the chief minister.
He said that sanction of funds had been communicated to the government in a letter by union minister Kamal Nath.
