Shimla: The Himachal cabinet at its meeting today approved amendment in the HP Lease Rules by deciding not to allot government land wherever suitable private land was available.
Presided over by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal the cabinet decided that hence forth government land would be leased only for government universities and not to private universities.
Land would also be leased to what government recognizes as developmental activity but whereas earlier companies were allotted land at the rate of 18 percent of the highest market value or double of the 5 year average price, whichever was less, but henceforth it would be charged on the amount whichever is higher. The provision would also be made applicable to petrol pumps and godowns, said a cabinet spokesman.
Should the leased be not put to use within two years of its allotment, it would be resumed by the government and a penalty ten times of lease money would be imposed.
Procedure for applying, processing and granting of lease has also been rationalized, he added.
The cabinet decided to pay Rs 1.95 per Kg as handling charges to designated government agencies for procurement of apples under market intervention scheme. It also decided to provide 10,000 metric tons of procured apples to HPMC for processing free of cost.
The cabinet approved setting up of four Industrial Training Institutes, of which two are to be put up in Mandi district and one each in Shimla and Bilaspur districts.
The cabinet approved for the state governent to stand guarantee for HP Financial Corp raising Rs 16.05 borrowings through Non SLR Bonds.
To construct the Indian Ex-Servicemen League building, the government decided to transfer 765 square meter land at Dharamshala.
