Shimla: With a protesting opposition choosing to remain silent and not participating in the days proceeding, the HP Apartment & Property Regulation (Amendment) Bill had a safe passage in the state assembly today.
The amendment carried out in HP Apartment & Property Regulation Act 2005 has made the law more stringent and suitable for present circumstances, considering rising incidents of haphazard constructions by promoters and real estate developers at various places.
State Urban Development and Transport Minister Mohinder Singh Thakur presented the bill for discussion and approval after the question hour which was later cleared by a voice vote, without a discussion.
The amended law would help to regulate constructions, sale, transfer and management of apartments on ownership basis. It would also regulate colonies, property transactions and registration of promoters and estate agent in the state.
The amendment carried out would help to check haphazard construction being done by promoters and incorporated brought provisions of designating certain areas where promoters could be allowed to raise construction.
The new legislation has also made provisions in the Act for increasing the quantum of fine for any contraventions to the Act observed.
