Shimla: Passengers of a speeding bus (HP-69-7241) had a miraculous escape when it hit an oil tanker near Sundernagar town in Mandi district at about 12.30 in the afternoon leaving 22 of them injured. Five of the injured are said to have sustained serious injuries.
The private bus belonging to Hassan Travels was on its way from Bilaspur to Sundernagar when it hit the tanker at Chamukha village, about 4 kilometers from Sundernagar.
One of the serious injured Subham (14) has been referred to the state hospital at IGMC, Shimla where as others were admitted to civil hospital at Sundernagar.
Sources disclosed that the accident occurred after the bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed and hit into the oil tanker.
“After hitting into the other vehicle the driver managed to flee from the spot and police have sent out search parties to arrest him for negligent driving,†a police spokesman said.
Most of the injured were from Sundernagar region and some belonged to Beri village of Bilaspur district. Among the injured those identified included Muni Lal (32), Suraj (12), Soma Devi ( 33), Devinder (25), Kunta ((32),Sarang (12) Jogal (74), Kabita (20), Sonal (21), Roop Singh (28), Sashi (29), Yashwant (23), Reena (22), Subham (14), Satya (21), Rajan (20), Anita (18), Susheel (21), Rishi (25), Vijay (24), Duni Chand (25) and Yadvinder (25).
