Shimla: The Central government, in principal has agreed for a Rs 225 crore annual plan under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan for 2010-11, Education Minister ID Dhiman stated here.
Presiding over a review meeting the minister disclosed that a provision of Rs 166 crore had been made in the current financial year and an increase of 38 percent had been incorporated for the next year.
Under Sarv Shiksha Abiyan, basic amenities would be ensured in all schools with participation from the public, he said. To promote quality education, community and teacher training schemes had been provided in the state program.
A separate scheme catering to elementary education ‘Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha’ program was being implemented under a 75:25 centre-state funding arrangement. An amount of Rs 48 crore has been sanctioned recently for this program, said Dhiman.
Principal Secretary Shirkant Baldi made a detailed presentation of the funds provided for enhancing the quality of education as well as the infrastructure. Others present included OP Sharma director elementary education and Rajiv Sharma project director of Sarv Shiksha Abiyan.

A right step. I personally feel more should be pledged and earmarked for projects involving education/educational institutes. If one happens to tour the rural schools one would understand what I am talking about.
