Shimla: Eleven persons were killed and another 9 injured when a Himachal Roadways (HRTC) bus that was headed to Revghati in Kothkai from Shimla met with an accident at about 4 p.m. on Monday evening.
The accident happened near Chadiara, on the right side of Giri River about 20 kilometer short of Kotkhai, said a policeman.
Speaking over phone from the accident site JS Rana, deputy commissioner said, “ten bodies have been retrieved and the 11th one had been located and would be retrieved soon.†The driver of the bus is among the dead, he added.
The bus (HP-07-0747) that has rolled about 300 meters into the valley was carrying 20 people, he said.
A medical team was rushed to help out with the rescue and relief operations.
Eight of the injured person have been rushed to IGMC Shimla and are under treatment, said the district magistrate. One injured person was admitted to Kotkhai hospital and is being treated, he added.
All the dead had been identified, the injured had been provided interim relief, said Rana.
