Shimla: Heading out from rain battered tracks into some of the highest motorable roads in Himalayan landscapes, the 11th Raid-de-Himalaya, motor rally is to be a week-long event in October, starting on 5th from Shimla and concluding on 12th at Leh.
The ‘Raid’ as it has come to be popularly known will cover about 3000 kilometers of track, passing through Manali, Keylong, Sarchu to Leh and from Leh to Kargil and closing back at Leh.
En-route the rallyists have to negotiate about a dozen high altitude passes. The competition is open to both professionals and amateurs for both four wheelers and two wheeler vehicles. The prize distribution would be held in Leh, the organisers stated.
