Blinds join the fray, 6 blind among donors
Shimla: In a rare gesture, six visually impaired persons among sixty turned up to donate blood for Thallesemic children.
Shobu Ram, president of Blind Persons Organisation not only inaugurated the camp but was one of the donors at a camp organized by Umang Foundation and SEWA Trust, organized at The Ridge, today.
Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal paid a visit to the camp and appreciated the efforts made to provide a lifeline for Thallesemic children by the voluntary organizations.
Ajai Srivastava, president Umang Foundation, said this was the sixth blood donation camp organized by the foundation in a year.
“Blood donated by six visually impaired persons in historic and will give a new direction to the voluntary blood donation in the state’’, Srivastava said.
The visually impaired persons donors included Anurup, Kartar Sharma Tara Chand, Gopal and Navin.
The Thalessemic children, Aditi, Sahil, Arjun and Jasmine honored the donors by presenting them rose buds.
