Shimla: Having remained mute to Aman Kachroo’s murder by ragging incident, Himachal Pradesh University has sounded out a warning that anymore ragging incidents would lead to de-affiliation of the rogue institution.
“The unfortunate incident that occurred in Tanda medical college is before the Supreme Court and the university will abide by the courts directives,†said Sunil Kumar Gupta, vice-chancellor of HPU at a media briefing today.
Gupta said, “the university had issued a warning notice to all affiliated colleges over taking strong measures to banish ragging. “
.
“If ragging surfaces in a government institution, we will consider de-affiliating the institution and where a private institution is involved, besides de-affiliating, the institution, we may ask for closing down the college itself, said the vice-chancellor.
With investigation agencies having found no evidences about any leakage of the 2009 Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT), Gupta said that they were seeking legal advice about filing a libel case against the persons responsible for defaming the university.
After having been given a clean chit both the CID and vigilance departments, the CPMT merit list would be declared today itself, he said. Counselling for filling the medical seats would be as per schedule, he added.
Based on media reports, one parent from Mandi had lodged a complaint with the university about the possibility of CPMT 2009 paper having got leaked.
To avoid the pitfalls of 2006, when the university denied any leak and an investigation monitored by the High Court found out otherwise, we asked the government to inquire the matter immediately this year, said the vice-chancellor.
