Shimla: Taking the elevation of two congressmen from the state into the union cabinet into its stride, the party today took stock of the reverses it met with in the Lok Sabha elections and decided to reshuffle the organisation so as to infuse fresh blood.
Thakur Kaul Singh, state president briefing media persons after the meeting said the meeting was held scrutinize the shortcomings in the election campaign which cost the party dear.
As part of re-organisation, the party decided to dissolve the media cell for it had failed to convince the people about the UPAs contribution towards NREGA and other important centrally supported government schemes, he said.
Congressmen held that the BJP misuse of government machinery, money power and holding out the threat of transfers on government employees did influence many voters, which resulted in changing the dynamics of the electorate.
To gear up the party, Kaul Singh said that training would be imparted for youth leaders, Sewa Dal activists, women cell and booth level committees would be strengthened.
The party did pass six resolutions, which included thanking the central AICC committee for providing representation to Anand Sharma and Virbhadra Singh in the union cabinet, something that had never been done any party for Himachal.
A resolution acknowledging the contribution of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in helping the party to retain power for a second consecutive term headed by prime minister Manmohan Singh was also adopted by the state congress unit.
