On Day one, Nano evoke lukewarm interests in Himachal

Shimla: The diminutive Nano, the latest peoples car from the Tata stable evoked lukewarm interest here as people queued up looking for booking forms with the local State Bank of India counters.

As many as 426 forms were sold and 40 Nano booking were received on day one, said Vinod Khanna, area general manager SBI. Our branch has received 2000 forms, he disclosed.

In all 175 SBI branches in the state are selling the booking forms for what has been accepted as the world’s cheapest car. However, bookings are only being accepted at the three major branches located in Shimla, Dharamsala and Hamirpur.

The booking which opened on Thursday closes on 27 April. While a form is being provided at Rs 300 from, booking of the car is being made on a deposit of Rs 2,999, bank officials stated.
