Shimla: With doctors still keeping arrested senior police officer BS Thind, under observation and not declaring him fit for being produced in court, police have secured a transit remand and are on guard by his room at IGMC hospital, where he is convalescing from a heart ailment.
“As Thind is still under observation by treating doctors, he will be produced in court on Monday,†said SPS Verma, superintendent police for Solan district.
Thind, a 1974 batch IPS officer, was arrested on Saturday in a criminal case lodged at Parwanoo police station about him allegedly having demanded money from a businessman to get a rented commercial property vacated.
For evidence, businessman Ashok Mittal had submitted a telephone conversation recording on a CD, voice match testing of which conducted by the investigators have led them to hold that the voice contained in the recording is that of Thind.
Police sources said that after having been with Himachal police for such a long period, few were willing to come forward and carrying out the task of arresting their former boss.
