Shimla: Of the 65 participants selected for , to be held from 4th to 14th February at Idaho, USA, six of those who will represent India are going to be from Himachal, Mallika Nadda, chairperson special Olympics Bharat HP said.
By participating in these world winter games will give the special Olympic athletes with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit productive and get respect through sports training in the society, Nadda said at a meet here on Sunday before leaving for the special games.
Special Olympics provide a global stage for athletes to show their talents and invite the world to join a world of inclusion and mutual respect without bias or prejudice, she added.
JP Nadda, forest minister who was present at the meet said that attitude of society had changed towards these children who were not kept in isolation anymore.
