Shimla: In an effort to create a microcosm of government services and their availability to rural people, Himachal has shaked hands with private players to establish 3366 Common Service Centres (CSCs), or you can say ‘Lok Mitra Kendras’ as named by the state govt., in the rural areas of the State, this was said by an official Spokesperson in Shimla. Through this project, which is a part of nationwide scheme to set up 1 lakh CSCs across the country to bridge the digital divide in the public private partnership mode, many services will be available in the village on the click of a mouse.
The Government has allotted the work of setting up and operations of CSCs to M/s Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd. for 1296 Lok Mitra Kendras in Kangra and consortium of M/s Tera Software Ltd. and M/s CNG trading Company Pvt. Ltd. for 956 Lok Mitra Kendras in Shimla and 114 Lok Mitra Kendras in Mandi division. These companies will select village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) on their own and will be responsible for making the centres functional and the Government will not be responsible for any payment to the village level entrepreneurs (VLEs), he added.
