Shimla : Constructed with a cost of Rs 15.80 crores, a 4 kilometer Sanjauli-Dhalli by pass road to reduce the congestion in Sanjauli township was thrown open by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion the chief minister said the new road would help to remove congestion and meet a long pending demand of residents.
The proposal of obtaining forest clearance from the central government was moved in 2002, he said. For funding the new road the state government had raised the matter with the 12th Finance Commission and obtained a sum of Rs 12 crore for its construction, he added.
Besides residents of Sanjauli and Dhalli, prominent people present on the occasion included Gulab Singh, PWD minister, Narender Bragta, horticulture minister, Sarveen Chaudhary, social justice and empowerment minister and local MLA Suresh Bhardwaj.
