Himachal tops in contraceptive use among women

[lang_en]Shimla: Himachal Pradesh has become the first State in the country for having highest contraceptive prevalence rate among the fair sex with 73 per cent of married women adopting the method, Hindu reported.

As per a survey which was conducted by Mumbai-based International Institute for Population Sciences it was found that 73 per cent of married women population in the state was using a contraceptive method. Female sterilisation in the state accounts for 68 per cent of the total contraceptive use, while the national average of contraceptive use is 56 per cent.

The survey also found that female sterilisation was more common among less-educated and disadvantaged women in the State.[/lang_en]
