Dr. Harjinder Singh Majhail, Director Principal of Dagshai Public School at Dagshai who was a well known educationist, journalist, poet, writer and administrator has been awarded Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar yesterday. Dr. Majhail was awarded for his outstanding achievements in the field of literature and philosophy and his remarkable contribution in national building, social welfare, environment protection and promotion of Indian Art, culture, dance and music.
The prestigious award was conferred to him by Dr. Bhisham Narayan Singh, former Governor of Tamil Nadu and former Union Cabinet Minister and Justice O P Sharma, former Governor of Punjab in a well attended award ceremony held under the aegis of Indian Solidarity Council and International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi at Connaught Hotel, New Delhi during birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.
Dr. Majhail has held illustrious educational assignments of National repute which include Director Education of Chief Khalsa Diwan running more than 45 educational institutes throughout India. Dr Majhail has also been the press correspondent of national dailies, Indian Express and Jansatta.
Dr. Majhail already has a plethora of awards to his credits which include Padam Bhushan Dr Bhai Vir Singh award, Saint Bulleh Shah Award, Dr Ambedkar Fellowship Award, Avantika National Sukriti Award etc. Dr. Majhail has written noable books in English, Hindi and Punjabi which include Japuji: The Gate Way to Liberation, Japuji: A Psychological Interpretation of Five Khands, ‘Antar Agan’ a collection of poems in Punjabi, ‘Mann Ka Vatayan’, a collection of poems in Hindi, ‘Mann Atam Khashitiz’, a collection of poems in Hindi, ‘Jeevatiya Mar Raheiye’, a collection of poems in Punjabi and hundreds of articles published in different newspapers on different themes.
He has done equally well in sports. He was the First Dan Black Belt in Taekwondoo and at present was a member of World Hapkido Federation, USA. Equally laudable was Dr. Majhail’s contribution in social field especially his involvement in the Lions International, as the founder President of Lions Club, Mohali Greater wherein organized blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, medical camps and other social activities for the welfare of the society.
