Shimla: To exploit the new found status of a World Heritage Site, Indian Railways is to collaborate with Himachal Tourism so as to promote the over hundred year old Kalka Shimla route that has much history attached to it.
HK Jaggi, divisional manager railways told media persons here today that the package would not be an ordinary journey from Kalka to Shimla but would be designed to include some halts along the route for letting the traveler gather more details about the design, its history and heritage value.
After attaining the status of a World Heritage Site, railways will make more efforts at conservation of the track and ensure that no encroachments are made onto its property, said Jaggi. Railways also intend to construct a museum where many of the artifacts related to operating the service for over century would be conserved, he said.
