Sirmaur’s ginger crop to come under NAIS

The state government has decided to include ginger crop of Sirmaur district in the National Agriculture Insurance Scheme. The inclusion however would be on experimental basis on order to fulfill the demand of farmers. The scheme which provides compensation to farmers in case of losses due to natural disasters would continue for the current kharif season for maize, paddy and potato crops as well.

Farmers interested in raising loan for their maize, paddy potato and ginger crops during the current kharif season should insure the crops before 30th September, 2008 while for farmers not raising loans should register before 31st July, 2008. One should contact nearest Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Rural and Commercial banks, Agriculture Extension Officers, Agriculture Development Officers or officers of Agriculture Department posted at Sub-Division level for further information.
