Shimla: Fifteen people died and six others stand injured, some grievously, when the bus they were traveling in, went off the road and fell deep into a gorge at Khaneoli Badrash near Rampur on Sunday morning.
From the accident site overlooking the relief and rescue operations, Dalip Negi, sub-divisional magistrate Rampur over phone said, â€œThe bus was on its way from Basholi to Rampur, on an un-tarred roadway, when it failed to negotiate a bend and fell into a gorge. The bus fell deep into the gorge that made the relief and rescue operation a difficult one, he added
The state transport Himachal roadway bus was carrying 21 passengers, said Negi. Of the 15 dead, 4 are females. The dead include the conductor of the bus. The driver has survived the accident and is among the injured.
All the injured have been shifted for medical treatment, he said. Among the six survivors, there is a girl and a lady. Three of the injured have been shifted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla for treatment, disclosed the magistrate.
Immediate relief of Rs 10,000 has been extended to the kin of the dead and cash reliefs to the injured have also been released, he said.
