Heavy Rain Hits Shimla Tourism

Shimla: The early arrived monsoon is getting damper in Shimla and badly affecting the tourism. The monsoon has hit the state one week ahead of schedule and the capital city is witnessing consecutive heavy rainfall.

Manmohan Singh, Director of Meteorology Department, Himachal Pradesh told Asian News International, “The monsoon has come in early this time. The monsoon generally comes by June 20, but this time it has hit on June 13 in Himachal Pradesh. Before the arrival of monsoon, there were continuous monsoon showers as a result it has been witnessing excessive rainfall. It is predicted that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in one to two areas.”

This monsoon has not only hit the lifestyle of localites of Shimla but also the economy of the state as it is mainly dependent on tourism for its revenues.

The heavy rain has forced the tourists to stay in the hotels thus hampering the sale of the shopkeepers also.
