A meeting of the financial institutions working in the state today reviewed the progress made under Agriculture Debt Waiver and Relief Scheme 2008. Shri Ripan Murgai, General Manager and Convener, H.P State Level Bankers Committee said that banks have identified 32000 farmers up to 18th June, 2008 who would be provided debt waiver and relief under the scheme.
He further added that the identification process would be over by 22nd June and the final figures would be sent to SLBC soon. He informed that the Government of India has said that all the individual farmers who have availed loans for agriculture purpose through a Self Help Group and for whom the SHG has maintained individual record in their books to the satisfaction of the lending institution, would also be covered under the scheme.
