Shimla:Having achieved a record generation in the just concluded financial year, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) has targeted to surpass it in the new financial year for which it signed a memorandum of understanding with the central ministry at Delhi today.
HK Sharma , chairman-cum-managing director SJVNL and Anil Razdan secretary power signed the memorandum which sets out a gross energy generation target of 6600 million units from the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro power station for 208-09. The public sector undertaking expects a revenue realization of Rs 1378 crore for the year. In 2007-08 SJVNL achieved a record generation of 6450 million units from its sole generation station.
Other than a generation target, the MoU sets up benchmarks to be achieved during the year regarding construction of the 412 MW Rampur hydroelectric project, which include excavating a substantial portion of the head race tunnel . Preparing detailed project reports for the 252 MW Devsari project and the 56 MW Naitwar Mori project are part of the agreed terms by the nigam with the central power ministry.
Since commissioning of the Natpha Jhakri project in 2003, SJVNL has helped to meet peaking power requirements in the northern grid, recording a generation of 4055 million units in 2005-06 and 5941 million units in 2006-07, said VK Verma deputy general manager SJVNL. The Himachal government – central government joint venture undertaking is pitching for being counted among the nations mini-ratna companies because of its strong financial position.
