The Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh- Manisha Nanda announced here today that no fresh funds under the Member of Parliament/Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Fund would be allotted as far as the Model Code of Conduct is enforced. However, she made it clear that there are no restrictions for release of the same where the completed works are concerned.
She further said that the Election Commission of India has banned any such transfers in lieu of elections. Further any such undertakings like foundation stones etc. of projects or schemes of any kind or any promises of construction of roads and likewise, public undertakings etc. can be used to lure the voters.
