HAMIRPUR: Various parts of Hamirpur district were lashed by heavy rains today as a result the day temperature fell sharply. Icy cool waves from the nearby Dhauladhar hills are sweeping across the region and keeping the temperature down. Dhauladhar hills also received light to medium snowfall today. People were forced to wear heavy woolens to save them from the wrath of biting cold.
The state level Himachal day function was also marred by the rains and people had to take shelter under umbrellas to witness the function at kanjyan village of Hamirpur district. HP chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal was the chief guest on this occasion.
Reports say that the untimely rainfall harmed the cause of the Rabi crops and wheat crops were the worst hit. The Wheat harvesting operations that start on Baishakhi has been hit and delayed due to the bad weather for about one week.
