Shimla: The vigilance department has detained a former HP School Education Board official and another official over suspected role in helping former horticulture minister Singhi Ram secure a fake certificate for his daughter Upma Kashyap. The two face possible arrest, sources disclosed.
When contacted Anand Pratap Singh, SP vigilance told My Himachal News, two people, a school education board official and a former official have been detained for questioning about their role in the fake certificate case.
Sources revealed that one of the persons being questioned was a certain Mr Gupta, a former joint secretary in the board who had since retired. The other official was Sohan Singh and was presently posted in Poanta Sahib.
The two are reportedly said to have assisted in making the fake certificate which helped Upma in securing admission into a prestigious college in Delhi. In all likelihood they would be arrested later in the day, the source revealed.
The investigating vigilance team is also said to have laid its hands on a type writer which was used to key in the words and digits onto the mark sheet.
