PALAMPUR: Mr. Shanta Kumar, Senior BJP leader and All India President of BJP today thanked the Election Commission of India for conducting free, fair and peaceful assembly election in the state. Talking to media persons at his residence this evening he said election commission had performed very well in the state. Despite heavy pressure from the ruling congress party all the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning worked as per guidelines of the commission.
Shanta Kumar said BJP in ensuing assembly elections would repeat the history of 1990 assembly elections when party had crossed fifty seats when it contested the assembly election jointly with Janta Dal in the state. He said BJP was definitely going to get two third majority in the state. The district in which BJP had done well included Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Hamirpur, Una Bilaspur Kulu and Solan, where it would make a clean sweep.
Shanta Kumar said BJP would form a government in the state on new year eve. He said BJP would order high level probe into all the scam including Audio CD released by Major Vijay Singh Mankotia in which Vir Bhadara Singh and his wife had exchanged words with certain industrialist pertaining to heavy financial deals . Besides, state government would also review all the MOUs signed by Vir Bhadara Singh government for granting permission for the setting up of Hydel Power Projects and cement plants in the state in past five years. He said BJP government would gear up the bureaucracy and expect that it should give results to the expectations BJP government.
Shanta Kumar announced he and Prem Kumar Dhumal had already clarified that there would be no compromise with corruption in the state and it would be top priority of the BJP government to deal with corrupt officers firmly. He said all the appointments made under PTA schemes would also be reviewed by the BJP government.
Shanta Kumar thanked electronic and print media who played very constructive and fair role in these elections and brought truth before the people.
