Shimla: The congress is facing a revolt from party cadres in Mandi assembly segment as plans to allot the ticket to Anil Sharma, son of Sukh Ram, the former union communication minister, firm up.
Sukh Ram had recently decided to hang up his boots in favour of his son. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at a press meet recently had stated that the party candidate for the Mandi seat would be Anil Sharma.
In the presence of party observer Jagmeet Singh Brar, on Friday, a group headed by district congress president DD Thakur have opposed the move to give the ticket to Sharma. Besides DD Thakur, three other aspirants have staked their claim for the party ticket for the seat.
Champa Thakur, a woman applicant for Mandi ticket stated, “If DD Thakur is not allotted the ticket then a women candidate needed to be considered.â€
