Shimla:To attract tourists and make up for occupancy rates in the winter months, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC, which runs the largest chain of budget hotels in Himachal, has announced discounts ranging from 20 to 30 percent at various properties.
General Manager RC Gupta said that the winter discounts would be available across all HPTDC hotels starting from 15th November to 14th April, 2008. However, for the festive Christmas-New Year week, the discount would not be applicable at some hotels from 23rd December to 2nd January, he added.
The hotels that where full charges would be applicable during the festive week include, Hotel Holiday Home and Peterhoff at Shimla Hotel Chial Palace at Chial, Hotel Peach Blossom at Fagu, Hotel Golf Glade at Naldhera, Hotel Pinewood at Barog, Hotel Dhauladhar at Dharamshala and some of the premier hotels at the tourist town of Manali, Gupta informed.
With the launch of online bookings, occupancy rates with the state run HPTDC hotels has picked up in the past year and it has reduced the discounts from a flat 40 percent offered last year to 20 to 30 percent on hotels depending upon expected tourist arrivals at various destinations.
