Six persons were feared killed and 20 others trapped in the main shaft of the Parbati Hydro Electricity Project stage-II at Sainj in Kullu valley last night, according to police sources.
The sources from Sainj confirmed that six persons were on a lift while that broke down and one body has been retrieved out of six . Five bodies are yet to be recovered. According to the laborers twenty persons who were on shift duty and were working inside the shaft have not returned.

One body recovered 5 others missing in Kullu power project accident

The police has recovered on body and five others are feared killed in a pressure shaft tunnel of a hydropower project under construction in Sanj valley of Kullu.
Sub inspector Gyan Sharma, supervising the rescue and relief operation over phone told My Himachal that so far only one body has been recovered. “Rescue operation is on but there is no sign about the other five persons who fell into the shaft tunnel when a construction lift broke down,” said Sharma.
Sharma denied reports that any other labourers were feared trapped in the tunnel. “No other labourer is reported missing,” said Sharma
Meanwhile, chief minister Virbhadra Singh has expressed gried over the accident. The district administration has been asked to provide all possible assistance to next of the kin of the deceased and injured labourers.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation is constructing the Parbati Stage II mega power project where the accident took place.
