Shimla: One person was killed and another injured after an auto in which they were travelling fell into a gorge at Khaneri in Shimla district, last night, a police spokesperson said today.
The accident occurred near Rampur about 135 km from the state capital at about 9 p.m while the auto was on its way to Khaneri from Rampur. The police state that the auto driver, identified as Rajinder Singh, 32, died on the spot, while another person, identified as Ramesh Kumar, 38, was injured after the three-wheeler fell into a 400 metre gorge.
The injured has been admitted to the government hospital at Khaneri where the doctors described his condition stable.
Rajinder’s body was handed over to relatives after post mortem examination. Cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained and the matter was being investigated, say the police.
