PARWANOO: The hap-hazard and indiscriminate industrial development has shattered the peace of town residents. The Sector 1 was most affected where land use change cases were on rise. The residential land has put in for commercial purpose in complete violation of norms.
As per modus operandi, first construct an underground godown in basement and then stored the raw material and other goods in it. The construction map was a mere formality as there was no system to check the accuracy of construction against passed plans. The town has been divided in six sectors. The most of area falls under jurisdiction of MC as far as no objection certificate (NOC) for any new construction is concerned. The rest area was looked after by Town and the Country Planning (TCP) Department.
Due to the commercial use of residential area the parking of trucks for loading and unloading during odd hours has become major problem for residents.
The loading and unloading work usually continued late at night, pointed out a senior citizen. “We cannot think of sleep peacefully until they complete their work,†he rued. Most of the times roads remain occupied by the trucks carrying goods and raw material. The residents, particularly women prefer not to venture out of their homes after evening as a truck crew and the labour force continue to roam on the roads, said another affected residents.
To curb the wrong use of land the MC had planned to conduct a survey to check violations some times back. But till date nothing has come out.
Inquires showed that besides failure of MC and Town and Country Department in implementing norms strictly, it was high fee charges to seek land use change behind problem. The MC fee for change in land status was almost double of what TCP charges for same purpose.
