Shimla: With the deadline for filing of nominations to the three tribal seats drawing up, today four candidates filed their nominations for the Bharmour and Lahaul-Spiti seats.
Sitting legislator of Bharmour, Thakar Singh filed his papers for a re-election from the seat as a congress nominee, an election department spokesperson disclosed. For the same seat Chaman Lal, filed his papers as a BJP covering candidate. Tulsi Ram, a former MLA from Bharmour is the official BJP candidate for the constituency and has already filed his papers.
Dropping sitting member Raghubir Singh for the Lahaul-Spiti seat, Phunchok Rai, a former member of parliament, today filed his papers as the congress candidate for the assembly segment. His BJP opponent for the electoral contest in the constituency Ram Lal Markande, a former minister, also filed his nomination papers before the returning officer, the election officials disclosed.
In all elections to three tribal seats are to be held in the first phase of polling, nominations for which close on October 27. Though the poll is scheduled for November 14, counting will only be done with the other 65 assembly segments, which go to the polls on December 19, according to the two phase election schedule announced for the state.
