Export promotion seminar in Baddi

BADDI: “The state has vast avenues for export and investment. With natural resources like power in plenty the state could be a biggest hub of industries in country.” Mr. Kuldeep Kumar, Industry Minister stated this while speaking at a seminar on export promotion in state held at Baddi today.

The seminar was organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO) in association with Baddi Barotiwala and Nalagarh and Parwanoo Industry Associations. Keeping in mind the investment opportunities galore the government has given special emphasized to infrastructure growth, asserted Mr. Kumar.

Dr. R.K. Dhawan, Chairman FIEO Northern Region said that the achievement of Himachal in fields of health, education, rural development, social welfare, infrastructure development was good. The seminar has aimed to focus the importance of exports in state economy, sensitize the entrepreneurs, sharing and resolving the exports difficulties, he said. Not in industry only the state has also potential in fields like tourism, animal husbandry, horticulture and agriculture, he maintained.

Dr. Dhawan further said that the exports of processed foods, cotton, synthetic and blended yarn, leather goods, electronics goods, essential oils, medicines, handmade textiles products have found their way into the international markets and can grow manifold if given further support.

Mr. R.S. Gujral the Director General of Foreign Trade has suggested the exporters to adjust to strengthening of rupee through switching to other currencies, hedging and improving cost effectiveness. The mechanism to refund state levies on exports was being worked out, he pointed out. He assured to make foreign trade policy more and more export friendly.

Mr. A.R. Singh the President of BBNIA said that the Baddi belt was in dire need of good transportation facilities as well as direct air and rail links.
