Himachal Cabinet Decisions

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh cabinet today enhanced the subsidy premium for group crop insurance schemes, sanctioned seven trauma vans for handling emergencies, gave it nod for a private university at Baru Saheb in Sirmaur district and created 1812 new jobs which included 148 posts of doctors under the nation rural health mission.

Presided over by chief minister Virbhadra Singh the cabinet approved enhancing the subsidy on group crop insurance from 10 to 50 percent for the Rabi crop which would be available for wheat, barley, maize, paddy and potato crops.

To handle emergency handling of patients because of rising number of accidents, cabinet approved trauma van for Solan, Mandi, Tanda, Hamirpur, Nahan, Chamba and Rampur, an official spokesman stated. The cabinet approved release of share capital of Rs. 10.52 crores to HP Financial Corporation in lieu of unpaid guaranteed dividend liability.

Other major decisions taken by the cabinet included approving an amendment in the business rules of the government, setting up three more toll barriers in Solan district to plug leakages of taxes, increasing the municipal limits of Parwanoo, approving the development plan of Chamba town and approved upgradation of the Solan, Mandi, Shahpur, Una and Shamshi industrial training institutes.

Of the 1812 new posts created, 982 are in the education department and 669 in the health department mainly for the national rural health mission program. Through a special recruitment drive the government intends to fill up a backlog of 29 posts for disabled persons in the health department. The cabinet also approved three new ayurvedic health centres in Shimla, Hamirpur and Chamba districts.
