NAHAN: Paonta police today arrested Mam Raj [45] resident of village Dobri Salwala under Paonta Sub Division, as accused of Shyam Pur village murder case today and has also recovered weapon used in the murder, it was disclosed by Mr J. P. Singh, Superintendent of police here late this evening.
Mr Singh said that a young man Pritam Singh [21] of Shyam Pur village was found murdered with a sharp edged weapon in the wee hours on July 14th last month in the fields belonging to his family. He was murdered by a thief Mam Raj, whom deceased tried to nab red handed while stealing electric motor from the pump house in the field of Pritam Singh.
S.P. said that it was a blind murder case which has been solved now with the arrest of Mam Raj. He added that Mam Raj has admitted his involvement in the crime and on the basis of his statement a knife used in the murder has been recovered from his house.
It may be recalled that hundreds of residents of area had gharoued office of Dy SP Paonta demanding arrest of accused, last month and police had constituted a special task force headed by SHO Paonta to investigate the case.
