Himachal Governor inaugurated 14th Maharaja Padam Singh Memorial Cricket Cup Tournament

crick1.JPGV.S. Kokje, Governor inaugurated the 14th All India Maharaja Padam Singh Memorial Cricket Cup Tournament organized by Rohru Cricket Association at Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium, Rohru in Shimla district today.

Speaking on the occasion, Kokje said that sports play a vital role in our life and such tournaments provide an opportunity to the participants to develop goodwill and spirit of sportsmanship besides oneness and unity in the country as well as in the States.

As many as eight teams drawn from different organizations and clubs are participating the tournament besides a team from Sialkot Cricket Club, Lahore, Pakistan.

Former Test and International Cricketers of Pakistan Salim Malik and Ijaz Ahmed are members of Sialkot Cricket Club.

The participating teams are All India BSNL, LIC Chandigarh, Sahara India, ICL Chandigarh, Sialkot Cricket Club, Lahore, Pakistan, KCA Karnal, ITC, Delhi and Legends Cricket Club Nagpur.

Final of this tournament will be played on 19th June, 2007 and Chief Minister will be Chief Guest on the occasion. The winner team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 2.70 lacs besides Trophy and mementos.
