Shimla: State Election Commission has appointed Srikant Baldi, Managing Director, HRTC and Arvind Mehta, Secretary, Finance and Planning as observers for the election to Municipal Corporation, Shimla in order to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of elections from 7th May, 2007.
Arvind Mehta would be observer for Ward Nos. 1 to 13 and Srikant Baldi for Ward Nos. 14 to 25 in their respective jurisdiction.
Observers will liaison with the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Shimla to assess whether proper law and order arrangements have been made and will also see that the preparation have been made for the polling and counting, he added.
Observers appointed by State Election Commission will send first report after the poll is over to the Election Commission. The 2nd report after counting is over and 3rd report at the end of the poll highlighting any specific point which needs to be brought to the notice of the Commission, he added.
