DALAI LAMA CREATES HISTORY IN HIMACHAL

Himachal now has biggest bon Buddhist library, training center in Sirmour

NAHAN: Top Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama created a history by visiting Yongdrung Mon Monastery situated in the Dolanji Tibetan settlement in Kala Ghat area of Rajgarh Sub Division last week, after a gap of nearly twenty years. He received a grand traditional welcome in purely Tibetan style from the hosts of Monastery, Tibetan residents and locals of the area who throng in large number to have his Darshan.

Top spiritual leader spent almost three days with the Kala Ghat residents as he had arrived on 20th of April and left for Delhi on 22nd. During his visit thousands of locals arrived in the Monastery to seek his blessings including Mr. G. R. Musafir, Speaker HP Vidhan Sabha. Highest Bodh spiritual leader also delivered spiritual discourses on this occasion to the thousands of listeners who had come from the different parts of the state and from the far flung areas of Rajgarh Sub Division, crossing all religious, cultural and linguistic barriers. Great spiritual leader blessed all the residents and delivered a message of peace and harmony for world community.

The visit of Tibetan spiritual leader remained historical not only for the Tibetan residents of the area who were very happy and celebrated this day as one of biggest occasion of their life as their beloved religious leader was with them after a gap of nearly 20 years but also for the Buddhist community and researchers on Budhism also. Now this place would develop as one of the leading training centre for Buddhist Monks, mainly of Bon order.

On this occasion His Holiness inaugurated a Library constructed with a cost of over one crore of rupees constructed by the Monastery. He also inspected the reading rooms, publishing section, children reading section and training Hall and other training facilities available for the training of Monks in the compound developed by the monastery. A communication of the Monastery said that Dalai Lama had visited this place on the invitation of 33rd Menri Trizin Rinpoche, the supreme religious leader of Bobpo Community world wide.

Communication said that the Library was one of the richest Bon Library with over 16,700 Tibetan and Zhang Zhung text and other books which includes Bon text, Buddhist Kngyur, Tengyur and rare commentaries collected by Bonpo community and their top religious leader Menri Trinzin Rinpoche from all over the world during past forty years. It would be a dream training and research centre especially for monks of Bon community.

On his more than two day stay with the residents of Kala Ghat area and Monastery he showered blessings on the large number of followers, Dalai Lama took part in several religious functions and performed several rituals inside the Monastery as per Tibetan traditions. He was also given a traditional farewell on 22nd by exhibiting full devotion by the followers, he left for Delhi.
