Himachal got it passport office today at Shimla. Anand Sharma, Union Minister of State for External Affairs said that the new passport office at Shimla would go a long way in making consular services available to the people of Himachal. He said that shortly a website for passport office Shimla would also be launched and facilitate on-line registration and web inquiries of passport application forms. He added that as a further measure to streamline service, the District Passport Centres would also be upgraded at Dharamshala, Mandi, Nahan, Hamirpur and Kalpa to Regional Collection Centres to cater to the requirements of people living in those far flung areas. Himachal Chief minister joined Mr. Sharma in inauguration of the passport office.

You can get the passport application form the local GPO at Hamirpur. After filling it up you can deposit it with the GPO. Here in Shimla the GPO acts as a collection center for passport forms for a fee. Later on police verification will happen and eventually receive your passport.
Shimla passport office is notorious for delays. It was a lot better when passports were being issued from Chandigarh. Here, things are dismissal
Shimla passport office is worst in functioning. Specially for people coming from Kangra Chamba it is big problem to stay and collect passport personally.Staff is vey poor in response. It was much better at Chandigarh , better accessible than Shimla.

The form can be obtained from GPO or Passport Office. I got it from Shimla GPO. May be in Hamirpur you can collect from same.
There is a difference of ten rupees in GPO.

STATUS OF PASSPORT APPLICATION IS NOT POSTED ON SHIMLA PASSPORT OFFICE WEB SITE.
CAN SOMEBODY GIVE THE REASON ON NOT LOCATING CURRENT STATUS OF APPLICATION WITH ABOVE SAID FILE NO?
IT IS REALLY PAINFUL FOR APPLICANT.
CONCERN PASSPORT MUST POST LATEST STATUS OF ALL APPLICANT WHETHER APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED AT POST OFFICE OR SHIMLA OFFICE DIRECTLY.
