Himachal Governor stresses peoples’ participation in Temple Management Committee

Shri V. S. Kokje, Governor has stressed the need for involving local community in the management of religious places so that proper maintenance of these places could be maintained. He said that by organizing ‘Bhakat Mandal’ of local people could be proved beneficial in this regard. Governor was interacting with the official and non official members of Sankat Mochan Temple Committee here today on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri Festival. He also performed puja at Sankat Mochan temple and installed idol of Lord Shiv in a Rudraksh temple in the complex.

Felicitating the people on the occasion, the Governor said that the State was well known as Devbhoomi and there was need to maintain this identity by encouraging the religious and cultural activities in an organized manner in the State. Expressing his happiness over the facilities available in Sankat Mochan Complex for visitors, the Governor said that by increasing more facilities this complex could be made a center of attraction for religious activities for the people and tourists also.

shiv1.JPGWelcoming the Governor on the occasion, Shri O.P. Kant, S.D.M. Rural Shimla who is also the Chairman of Temple Committee informed about the facilities available for the visitors and said that many more activities were being chalked out for further beautification of the complex.

Shri Kriti Wasan, Priest of Rudraksh Temple informed that this idol of Lord Shiv has been kept open for the ‘darshan’ for people only on the occasion of Mahashivratri in a year.
