Shri V.S. Kokje, Governor and Shri Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister have felicitated the people of the State on the eve of Maha Shivratri.
In his message Shri Kokje said that Shivratri was one of the major festivals celebrated by the people from all walks of life with devotional fervour. He hoped that the festival would bring happiness and prosperity in the lives of the people.
In his message, Shri Virbhadra Singh said that the people of the State have been celebrating the festival with traditional fervour and gaiety since the time immemorial. He said that the festival marked special prayer services in the prominent shrines of Lord Shiva and every family associated itself actively with all such festivities. He said that Himachal Pradesh was known the abode of Lord Shiva and Shivratri has its vital significance in the devotional activities of the people of the Pradesh. He further said that such festivals were instrumental in strengthening the bonds of universal brotherhood and social harmony.
